Figure out frittatas

The directions for the Spinach, Basil, and Tomato Frittatas on your website say to bake and refrigerate for up to a week — does that mean they're to be served cold or at room temperature?
— Rozz Rusinow, via email

Frittatas, like quiche, can be served hot or at room temperature. Although they'd be fine cold, the flavors would be a bit muted. So if you make frittatas ahead of time, set them out for 30 minutes or so to take the chill off.

Clear up brain fog

You left out a major contributor to brain fog (“How Can I Get Rid of Brain Fog?”) — candidiasis, or yeast overgrowth in the intestinal tract. When I attacked my candidiasis with an anticandida diet and oregano oil, my brain fog cleared greatly. Sugar, stress, toxins, and antibiotic use all contribute to candida overgrowth.
— I. McKenney, Stockton, California

Stephen T. Sinatra, MD, advises taking 1-2 grams of phosphatidylserine (PS) daily to combat brain fog. The most I ever heard or read about was a medical study of bodybuilders taking unusually high doses of 800 mg daily. Did he mean take one to two pills of 60-100 mg daily?
— Ann Monteforte, Conway, Washington

Thank you for the feedback. “In an unpublished study, I found that my patients with pre-Alzheimer's or those recovering from stroke required 1-2 grams a day of pure PS,” says Sinatra, “but you can start with 100-200 mg three to four times a day.” Our medical editor, Robert Rountree, MD, concurs that high doses of PS are nontoxic.
