High blood pressure can increase disability risk

In a recent study by the Harvard Medical School, researchers found that disability is more common for people with high blood pressure (HBP) and that regular tasks such as moving objects, walking up and down stairs, and other daily activities are more likely to become difficult as they age. They also found that HBP increases the risk of developing dementia. This research suggests that maintaining a healthy BP through lifestyle, diet, exercise and, if necessary, medication may lead to better physical and brain health in the later years.
