Charles Emery, PhD, associate professor of psychology at Ohio State University and lead author of the Heart & Lung study works out to contemporary vocalists or classical music with an upbeat tempo to help stimulate muscle movement.

Bill Phillips, author of Body for Life (Harper Collins, 1999), works out to Claude Challe, who produces electronic jazz lounge music from Paris, particularly his Buddha Bar series; and also the Café Del Mar series.

Jorge Cruise, author of 8 Minutes in the Morning for Extra-Easy Weight Loss (Harper Resource, 2004), works out to Latin beats, such as salsa and samba; Madonna; and music from the ’80s.

Jim Karas, author of Flip the Switch (Harmony Books, 2002), works out to the soundtrack to The Big Chill.
