Do's and Don'ts For Beautiful Skin
Do avoid harsh chemicals.
Use an herbal infusion to quell pain and calm inflammation,
especially for cystic acne. Soak 1 tablespoon dried lavender or
chamomile in 1 cup boiling water; let stand 5 minutes. Cool, then
apply to face with a cotton ball.

Do get or give
yourself a facial.
Once a month, support the skin's own cycle of regeneration with a
facial. (Try the at-home facial.) Taking
this time to relax will also help ease stress.
Do check
product ingredients.
Avoid those with specially denatured (SD) alcohol, which is harsh
and drying to the skin, causing it to produce more oil. Skip
products containing irritating perfumes and fragrances. Look for
tea tree oil among the ingredients, or simply add a few drops to
your current cleanser.
Don't wash your
skin more than twice a day.
Scrubbing skin squeaky clean leaves it in an unnaturally alkaline
state, which can cause premature aging and leave skin prone to
bacteria. Instead of chemical astringents, switch to witch hazel,
which promotes balanced skin pH.
Don't
squeeze.
Rough handling will only inflame blemishes and promote
infection.
Don't jump from
one skin-care brand to another.
Find a natural product line you trust and give it a chance. If you
have limited time, avoid products and routines that require
numerous steps.
Don't forget to
smile!
You'll look your best—and you might even stave off some of
the stress that can contribute to unhealthy skin.
