Try these natural treats for your tresses

California Citrus Shampoo
Makes 8 ounces / This shampoo will bring out the highlights in your hair, reminiscent of a day in the sun.

1/2 cup liquid castile soap
1/2 cup distilled water
4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
5 drops neroli essential oil

1. Combine all ingredients and pour into a clean plastic bottle. Cap and store in a cool, dry place for a day or two, shaking twice a day to thoroughly blend the ingredients. Shampoo as usual.

Deep-Conditioning Henna Treatment
Makes 1 application / Henna wraps each strand of hair with a protective coating, making it appear fuller. This coating also reflects light, making your hair shiny and radiant. Make sure you use wooden or plastic utensils to mix the henna because metal can cause an adverse reaction. Also, don't use henna if your hair has been chemically treated because henna may react with the chemicals already absorbed by your hair.

1/2 cup distilled water
2 teaspoons honey
1/4 cup colorless henna
Lavender or rosemary essential oil (optional)

1. Bring the water to a boil. Pour the henna into a separate bowl. Add the boiling water and honey and mix well. For extra conditioning, add a few drops of lavender or rosemary essential oil. Let the henna mixture sit for a few minutes to thicken, and then work it into your hair, making sure each strand is coated. Wrap your hair in plastic and cover with a warm towel. Let the henna work for 45 minutes to an hour before thoroughly rinsing. Follow with a shampoo that has a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. Dry and style as usual.
